FAQ

Who is covered for a prosthetic breast form?
Any woman who has had a partial or full mastectomy/lumpectomy surgry or was born with a deformity of one or both breasts is eligible.

How long does a breast form last?
A breast form is under warranty for 2 years from the date of purchase. If any bubbling, separation of silicone or any other manufacturers defect occurs, the breast form will be replaced at no charge.

Why do I need to wear a special bra?
Mastectomy bras are designed with a special pocket built into the cup so that the breast form can be placed there securely. The special pocketed bra holds the breast form in place and prevents the breast form from falling out or becoming dislodged. Many women try to wear a non-mastectomy bra after surgery but find that their breast form moves or falls out during activity.

Do breast forms come in different colors to match my skin tone?
Most breast forms come in a light tone but some darker tones are available for women of color in selected styles.

Does the government help pay for the breast form?
Any woman that has undergone mastectomy / lumpectomy surgery with an O.H.I.P. card is eligible for partial pay by the government under the Assistive Devices Program (ADP).
ADP will pay up to $195.00 for one full breast prosthesis, $390.00 if you require 2, $105.00 for a partial breast prosthesis or $210.00 if you require 2.
*Bras are not covered by ADP.

Often private insurance may cover the full or partial cost of a breast for and/or bras.

How often should I replace my breast form?
Your breast form is under warranty for two years and is usually replaced at that time. You may apply for ADP funding every 2 years. If you have gained or lost a significant amount of weight within the 2 years, you may also apply for a replacement breast form.
